Two Days One Central Location

This year’s event will be the largest to date and in a centralised location.

One Central Location Murphy Park

Waimak Carnival

Friday 8th December 2017

Murphy Park - 4.30pm to 10.00pm

*

Saturday 9th December 2017

Murphy Park - 12.00pm till late

Our plan is to create a niche, street like atmosphere in one location, instead of being all over the Kaiapoi township.  The benefit and reality of having everything in one place is it makes it easier, more convenient and stress free for the whole family and groups to attend the carnival.

The Carnival Rides and Side Show Attractions

The site will be filled with the Christmas atmosphere and  real carnival rides including a ferris wheel to see the whole town,  there will be an assortment of rides for every age group including adult bumper cars, along with a brand-new unseen ride known as tarantula.

Lots of Different types of Stalls with a Variety of Quality Goods to Sell and Yummy Food to Eat

We will have an excess of 50 stalls at the event showcasing the diversity in the community in the surrounding area.

We will be carefully selecting the stalls this year to ensure there is a wide variety of products to purchase and delicious food to eat. It is our aim to create a Carnival that showcases our local global community with interesting sights, sounds and smells, whilst celebrating the start of the festive season in a traditional kiwi style.

Entertainment from Local and International Entertainers

Using the connections of the event manager, who has hands on experience with Buskers and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we aim to have the best entertainment available over the two days.

Unlike other years this year we will a dedicated entertainment stage on-site at Murphy Park, both local and internationally renowned performers are making a commitment to be there.

We will have a timetable and information about all the performers, as we secure their attendance. In the meantime we can confirm the attendance of the world famous duo Lizzie and David who have worked internationally as paid entertainers.

As more entertainers are secured they will be listed on our entertainment page, so keep an eye on this page.

William's Street Market

Saturday 9th December 2017

Williams Street - 10.00am to 1.00pm

This will be running in conjunction with the main event in Murphy Park.

"Hellers" Fireworks Extravaganza

Friday 8th December 2017

Murphy Park - 10.00pm till late.

The KPA is gearing up for its River Town fireworks spectacular, sponsored by Hellers. The fireworks will lighten up the sky over Kaiapoi and the show promises to be bigger than anything ever scene in North Canterbury and we aim to make one of the top 10 fireworks shows in the Country and a must attend event.

The fireworks will take to the sky at 10pm on Friday in what will be a synchronized pattern with all the booms, bangs and colour sequences that will light up our township as never before in a spectacular professional fireworks display .

Spectators should be able to catch the show from the many vantage points along the river or at carnival central in Murphy Park.

The KPA will be respectful to both civil aviation, as Kaiapoi is on the Christchurch Airport flight path and will advise those locals and their pets nearby so they won't be startled by all the noise and commotion of this firework ensemble.
